The historic market town of Lampeter has a busy commercial centre. Visit one of the town’s many independent retailers, restaurants, or the farmers market offering a variety of local produce. 

Well known for its range of cafes and delis including TownHall, Granny’s Kitchen, and The Mustard Seed to mention a few. There’s also a vegetarian café at Mulberry Bush Wholefoods, a business that started back in 1974.

Get off campus and experience everything Ceredigion, one of Wales’ most beautiful counties has to offer.  

Lampeter is the centre of a network of country walks. You can visit the Falcondale Lake, Allgoch Iron Age settlement, or one of the nearby hill forts. Long Wood Community Woodland boasts 4km of footpaths and 10km of bridleways open to the public.   

Don’t forget you will also have access to our cross-campus Academy of Sport!

Want a day at home, our Lampeter campus provides a whole host of activities on-site. Why not take a stroll along our well-being walk, use the gym, play some sport in the sports hall, and meet friends in the students’ union bar or nightclub?  

Feeling peckish, have lunch in the canteen or a coffee and cake in 1822. Enjoy a picnic or BBQ in the Meadow, read a book in the library, or a game of D&D in the Founders library.

Join a Society 

The Medieval Society is a 12th Century re-enactment group. Whether you are interested in fighting with medieval weaponry, shooting bows, or partaking in any number of medieval craft, this is the society for you.  

Our Fencing club has a mix of beginners and more experienced fencers, so those new to fencing are more than welcome.  

Gaming! If tabletop games, role-playing games, or war games are your thing, this is the society for you.

Enjoy Lampeter’s social life by visiting the high street’s many independent pubs, Mind Eye night club, and our student union bar and club!

Further Afield… 

Surrounded by historical sites, hill forts, and castles Lampeter is also just a stone’s throw away from the wonderful Cardigan Bay coastline with its clean and secluded beaches including Aberaeron, one of Wales’s most stylish coastal towns. 

Delve into history from the National Trust’s Dolaucothi Gold Mines only 15 minutes by car, visit The Welsh Quilt Centre with its world-famous collection of Welsh quilts is located in Lampeter’s old Town Hall or explore Cadw’s Strata Florida Abbey where you could also join an archaeology dig.
