Elaine said she has always been passionate about health and social care, particularly mental health nursing. Her interest stems from personal experiences and a desire to support individuals struggling with mental health issues.

“I chose to enrol at UWTSD because of its excellent reputation for health and social care programs, its focus on practical experience, and its supportive learning environment, especially welcoming to mature students.

“I have always worked in healthcare and found that UWTSD accepts students from all backgrounds, which is refreshing, especially as a mature student.”

Elaine said the comprehensive curriculum of the Health and Social Care course at UWTSD, covering essential aspects of health, psychology, and social care, was a key factor in her decision to enrol.

“The course provided a solid foundation and opportunities for furthering my career in mental health nursing.

“My main aim in undertaking these studies was to gain the foundational knowledge and practical skills required to become an effective and compassionate mental health nurse. I want to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with mental health issues and to advocate for improved mental health services. My long-term ambition is to advance in the field through continuous learning and potentially contribute to mental health research and policy development.”
