At a global conference featuring many of the best in Entrepreneurial Education (EE), three members of the University’s IICED team were individually chosen to present. Not only did they stand out from a highly competitive international field, but they also clinched the ‘Best Workshop in Track’ award, proving UWTSD is a heavyweight in global entrepreneurial education.

The IICED team members, Hazel Israel, Paul Ranson, and Dr Felicity Healey-Benson, have triumphantly demonstrated the robustness and vitality of entrepreneurial education in Wales.

This year’s conference saw stiff competition, with entries from some of the brightest minds in the entrepreneurial education sector globally. Despite the high level of competition, each team member was selected separately to present, an incredible feat showcasing the strength and diversity of their expertise.

The Team also included Keynote, Professor David A. Kirby, a leading figure in Entrepreneurship Education, and Honorary Professorship of Practice at UWTSD. He initiated pioneering programs in entrepreneurship education across diverse universities in the UK and abroad, co-founding the Harmonious Entrepreneurship Society, with Dr Felicity Healey Benson, which emphasizes sustainable entrepreneurship, as a social enterprise spinout of UWTSD in 2022.

Dr Kirby’s work with UWTSD signifies a strategic partnership focused on creating a sustainable future through educational innovation. His career also includes over 200 publications, numerous awards, and Honorary Professorships at multiple global institutions. His collaboration with UWTSD exemplifies a fruitful relationship dedicated to tackling the Sustainability Challenge.

In an accolade that exemplifies their commitment to excellence, the IICED team won the ‘Best Workshop in their Track’ award. This recognition underlines not just the individual contributions of Hazel, Paul, and Dr Healey-Benson, but also the collaborative spirit and innovation that the team brings to entrepreneurial education.

“The IICED team has always been at the forefront of entrepreneurial educational innovation. Winning the ‘Best Workshop in Track’ award is not just an honour for the team but also serves as a recognition for the high quality of entrepreneurial education in Wales,” said Iestyn Davies, Pro Vice-Chancellor, UWTSD.

The award-winning workshops showcased UWTSD’s leading-edge methodologies and practice in Entrepreneurial Education, rooted in real-world applications and case studies. It incorporated interactive elements that resonated with researchers and practitioners alike, making it an enriching experience for all attendees.
