Inspired by UWTSD’s strong reputation in business programs, its focus on sustainability and environmental issues, and its commitment to hands-on learning and industry connections, Concy, a mum of two said she had found the ideal environment to pursue her passion for entrepreneurship.

“I chose the Business Skills for the Workplace course to develop and apply my skills in a practical setting,” said Concy, who lived in Italy for 16 years.

Her aim in undertaking these studies was to build a strong foundation in business management, equipping her with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of running a successful business.

“The knowledge and experience I gain from this course will be instrumental in expanding my sewing business and creating ample opportunities,” she said.

Facing challenges such as time management, balancing coursework, and maintaining a healthy academic and personal life, Concy said she overcame them by prioritising tasks, creating a study schedule, and seeking assistance from lecturers.

“Joining study groups and utilising academic resources were also essential in overcoming obstacles, ” she added.

Concy said she highly recommends the Business Skills for the Workplace course to others. “The course covers essential business skills in communication, time management, decision-making, and leadership. The material is well-organised and presented engagingly, making it easy to understand and apply in real-life work situations,” she said.

“I would like to thank my lecturers from the bottom of my heart for all their kindness, support and encouragement. Joining the university marked a pivotal point in my life, a period of transformation that has prepared me for the future. I feel so proud of my university. I would also like to thank my husband for his support which has helped me achieve all this!”

The course has already had a significant impact on Concy’s professional and personal development. “It has taught me practical strategies for improving my communication, time management, decision-making, and leadership skills, and boosted my confidence in approaching various business challenges,” she said.

Concy has now applied to study for a BA in Leadership and Management Skills for the Workplace at UWTSD. “My upcoming studies will focus on leadership styles, organisational behavior, strategic management, and effective decision-making. I am particularly excited to explore these areas,” she said.

Concy also has a long-term goal of opening a boutique shop, where she can apply her enhanced business skills and entrepreneurial spirit.
