At their end of year degree show, students from University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s (UWTSD) Swansea College of Art scooped numerous awards in recognition of their talent and hard work.

Each year, the Summer Show exhibition presents the culmination of degree work by graduating students. Their final pieces are viewed by staff and professionals on the lookout for standout talent.

The specifications of this year’s prizegivers were varied, from seeking work with retail potential to rewarding students who have performed excellently whilst experiencing adversity during their studies.

The ceremony was held in Dynevor courtyard at UWTSD on the opening night of the show on 19th May, with hundreds gathering to hear the results and a speech from the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Medwin Hughes.

Addressing the students, he said: “You can go anywhere, you can dream the dreams, you can create anything you want because you’ve got the belief in the value of art, of colour, of picture, of texture. You can interpret the world for the benefit of others.

“We’re all very proud. As you graduate this year, all I can tell you is: go for it! Make a difference, make your mark, because if you believe in yourself, your creativity will not only tell your story but it will change the world.”
