Dr Jekyll is a kind, well-respected and intelligent scientist. But we all have a dark side, don’t we?

Join WAVDA’s Musical Theatre students at the Sherman Theatre on 13th & 14th of June as director Kevin McCurdy adapts this cult classic and investigates the duplicity of human nature and what happens when we meddle with the darker side of science. Featuring a thrilling score of pop-rock hits from multi-Grammy and Tony nominated Frank Wildhorn & double Oscar and Grammy-winning Leslie Bricusse, Jekyll & Hyde has mesmerised audiences the world over.

One of the students performing will be Holly Grace Collins, she said:

“Taking on the role of Hyde has been an insightful and transformative experience. Portraying such a complex and dark character pushed me far beyond my comfort zone, demanding a depth of emotional and physical intensity that I had never explored before. Throughout this journey, I’ve cherished every moment of the rehearsal process, which was made significantly easier and more enjoyable thanks to the support and patience of my fellow cast members. Most importantly, the guidance and understanding that our director Kev McCurdy has given to not only myself but the whole company has been invaluable, providing me with the confidence and tools needed to truly bring Hyde to life on stage. I feel honoured to have been trusted with this role and I cannot wait to share all our hard work with our audiences!”

Director Kevin McCurdy said:

“This version of Jekyll and Hyde the Musical is going to be quite different from the original.  So for starters, we have a Jekyll and a Hyde that are played by 2 performers, the world is dark, it’s steampunk, it’s violent and nothing is as quite as it seems…
The cast have been amazing! We’ve had a lot of fun during the process.

“It’s been a journey for them, I’ve pushed them so hard and they’ve all stepped up to the challenge. Their acting technique is so solid, performances have grown with every rehearsal and I’m so proud of everyone!

“I first did this show in London 18 months ago at Royal Academy of Music in a small studio space…now it’s super sized!!
“Thank you to WAVDA for giving me the opportunity to upgrade the show.
Please come and watch and support these lovely actors smash it on stage. All of them are brilliant!”
