Graduation Dates

Students throwing their caps at their graduation

Monday, 22nd July 2024

Personal invitations will be emailed to eligible graduands during the Easter vacation. If you should have received an invitation but haven’t, please contact londongraduation@uwtsd.ac.uk.

Graduation Information

If you wish to attend a Graduation Ceremony, you are required to wear full academic dress appropriate to the award to which you will be admitted. You are responsible for ordering this yourself at Ede & Ravenscroft

You should place your order at least 21 days prior to the ceremony as Ede & Ravenscroft will not guarantee the order if placed any later.  Do not wait until the final assessment results are known. Refunds are available for any reason you are not able to attend, but you must notify Ede & Ravenscroft within seven days prior to the Ceremony. Their cancellation policy is available on their website. Ede & Ravenscroft will acknowledge receipt of your order when processed but you may not receive this until ten days before your Ceremony.

To place an order please enter ‘UWTSD’ when asked to ‘Select Your Institution’.  You will also need to know your head circumference, chest and height measurements.

Your robes will be available for you to collect from the venue on Graduation Day. Please return your gowns here after the ceremony.

You can request up to 5 tickets in MyTSD but only two guest tickets per student will be guaranteed. Once the number of students graduating has been confirmed a decision will be made on whether extra tickets can be allocated. This decision will not be made until one week before the ceremonies so please do not telephone the London Campus querying the availability of additional tickets. The tickets will be available for collection on the day of the ceremony but you will receive an email in advance confirming the number of tickets you will receive. The ceremonies are not appropriate for children under the age of 16 years due to the formal nature of the proceedings.

We recognise that limiting guest tickets in this way may cause some disappointment, but you will appreciate that the seating capacity in the main venue is limited.

Should you or any of your guests have a disability or specific access requirements that we need to know about, please give details in the relevant section of the Graduation Booking page on MyTSD.

Orders for formal photographs should be made in advance directly through Ede & Ravenscroft

Tell your friends and family that they can watch the ceremonies live on the University website.

  • Closer to the date of graduation, you will be issued an arrival time. It is important you arrive at your designated slot so that we can manage crowds.

You will need to be seated 45 minutes before the ceremony is due to start during which time you will be seated in your allocated seat and briefed by the Chief Marshall.

  • Should you or any of your guests have a disability / specific access requirements that we need to know about or a hearing impairment, please give details in the relevant section on MyTSD and we will endeavour to meet your needs.

Please make staff aware so that assistance can be provided.

  • You will be able to collect your guest tickets from the Registration desk when you arrive at the Barbican. Guests’ seats are not allocated and guests are able to sit anywhere in the venue apart from the seats reserved for Graduands, Vice-Chancellor’s guests or wheelchair users. Reserved seating will be clearly marked. Entry to the venue is by ticket only and tickets must be handed to the stewards on the doors. Doors to the auditorium will open approximately 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

  • An email will be sent a week before the ceremony confirming how many guest tickets you have been allocated for the ceremony.  In the meantime, please do not contact the London campus querying the availability of guest tickets.  All guest tickets will be available for collection on the day of the ceremony from the Registration desk.

  • Graduands must wear academic dress for their presentation at the congregation. We also require the wearing of relatively formal dress. The hood needs to be securely fastened to either a jacket, shirt or blouse.

  • At the start of the ceremony, graduates and guests will stand as the academic staff process into the hall. Following a welcome, you will be addressed by the Vice-Chancellor and/or other senior officials of the University.

After a reading of the Proclamation, graduates will be presented to the Vice-Chancellor (or her nominee). Ushers will prompt you to leave your seats and line up to be presented at the appropriate time.  It is important you sit in the correct seat number you have been given and stay in the order you have been seated.

Your name will be read out at which point you will ascend the stage, walk towards the Vice-Chancellor and doff your cap. You will then leave the stage and a member of staff will guide you back to your seat.

The Vice-Chancellor will then ask all students who are to be admitted to stand and she will then formally present you to your award. You should “doff” in response and remain standing to receive the University’s Greetings.

  • Looking towards the Vice-Chancellor, nod your head slightly and either touch the front peak of your cap or raise it very slightly.

  • Ceremonies normally last approximately 90 minutes.  Other than for your presentation you are required to remain in your seat for the duration of the ceremony.

  • The ceremonies will be streamed live here.

  • You MUST ensure that you have cleared any outstanding academic debts to the University. Please contact the Finance Office immediately to discuss your options.

If you have outstanding academic debts and have not made arrangements with the Finance Office to clear them, you will be excluded from the graduation ceremonies.

  • As a Graduating student of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, you are automatically part of the Alumni Association. As an Alumni Member, we will keep you informed about University news and developments – it’s a great way for us to keep in touch with each other!

If you need to update your contact details this can be done by completing Update your Details.

  • Certificates will be posted to students whose awards are confirmed at a Summer Award Board within approximately eight weeks of the graduation ceremonies.

Students whose awards are confirmed at Award Boards held at other times of the year will receive their certificates approximately eight weeks after the Board. You will receive an invitation to celebrate your achievement at a graduation ceremony despite the fact that you may have received your certificate already.

If after this time you should have any query regarding your certificate, please contact Registry.

Certificates will not be released to students who have not made arrangements with the Finance Office to clear outstanding debts.
