The Welsh Language Society of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David is looking forward to welcoming the Inter-Collegiate Eisteddfod to Lampeter in March.

Lampeter Campus in Summer.

This is the second time for the Eisteddfod to visit the Lampeter campus, and following the success of the Eisteddfod in 2018, the University is looking forward to host the event once again.

The weekend will be held on 3rd and 4th March, where up to 500 students from UWTSD, Aberystwyth, Swansea, Bangor and Cardiff will come to compete in sports competitions and the Eisteddfod.

Sports competitions such as football and a 7-a-side netball competition – which will take place on the Friday, with the Eisteddfod itself taking place on the Saturday.

Ffion Anderson, President of UWTSD Welsh Society, said:

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming the Intercollegiate Eisteddfod back to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David this year. I’m very excited and have enjoyed supporting a fantastic university team to ensure a successful Eisteddfod.

“With the Lampeter campus having just celebrated two hundred years since its foundation in 2022, hosting the Intercollegiate Eisteddfod there is certainly a great way to celebrate the Welsh life of the institution. Good luck to everyone competing, and I hope the Welsh students have a weekend to remember.”

Dan Rowbotham, UWTSD Branch Officer of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, added:

“The Intercollegiate Eisteddfod is a central part of the social and cultural calendar for students here in Wales, and we look forward to welcoming the Eisteddfod back to the Lampeter campus. It will be an opportunity to show Lampeter at its best and to give Welsh students an Eisteddfod to remember.”

In addition to  that, it will be an opportunity for the students to go around Lampeter town businesses and support them.

The celebration in Lampeter will culminate on Saturday 4th March, when the Eisteddfod gig takes place with ‘Dros Dro’, ‘Mali Haf’ and  ‘Morgan Elwy’ performing.
