Nathaniel Fullylove graduates today from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) with a first-class honours degree in Motorsport Engineering, having followed his lifelong passion for motorsport and a dream to work in Formula 1.

A proud and smiling graduate wearing his cap and gown.

Nathaniel, who was part of the University’s race team in his second year, says his time at UWTSD has been marked by unique experiences and specialised training that has prepared him for a promising career in the competitive world of motorsport engineering.

He said: “I have a love for motorsport, specifically Formula 1. This and a passion for designing and producing things going back to secondary school in Design Technology drew me to a degree in motorsport engineering, specifically at UWTSD and a big part of what drew me to UWTSD was the opportunity to be a part of the race team.”

Throughout his degree, Nathaniel’s primary goal was to gain the necessary knowledge and experience to secure a position in the engineering sector, with a specific focus on Formula 1.

“The highlights of the course for me included spending two years working with the university race team gaining an understanding and experience in how a real race team works,” he said.

“Additionally, seeing experienced members of the engineering and specifically Formula 1 field give guest lectures. I also welcomed the opportunity to learn how to use Atlas  - a data analysis software widely used in Formula 1.”

Nathaniel’s time at UWTSD was not without challenges, having faced a period of demotivation.  However, he said the support from UWTSD, especially from lecturer Tim Tudor, played a crucial role in helping him regain his confidence and complete his degree successfully.

Nathaniel Fullylove says he is now looking for a professional career in motorsport engineering and also at undertaking a master’s degree to further deepen his expertise.

“My experiences at UWTSD, particularly my involvement with the race team and specialised training, have uniquely equipped me for the demands of the motorsport industry,” he added.

“The combination of practical race team experience and comprehensive academic training sets this program apart from others and provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the motorsport industry.”

Tim Tudor said:  ‘As Nathaniel’s Programme Manager, I have had the privilege of witnessing his dedication and passion for motorsport engineering first hand. Nathaniel’s hands-on experience with our race team at national events around the UK, combined with the motorsport focused education he has gained at UWTSD, has given him the skills and knowledge required for a career in Formula 1. I have no doubt that he will do well within the field of motorsport engineering and achieve great success in his professional endeavours.”
