Oliver’s design journey began with A-Levels in Photography, Fine Art and Product Design in his home city of Cambridge. He chose to pursue his creative talent and desire at higher education level and found his perfect environment on UWTSD’s BA Automotive and Transport Design programme.

UWTSD stood out to Oliver for its excellent facilities and intimate learning atmosphere, which he believes fosters an efficient and inspiring creative experience. During his studies, he particularly valued the Automotive and Transport Design studio which offers individualised desk space and dedicated workshop for collaboration and focused study.

He said: “With a direct connection to engineering and the ability to customise my desk, the studio provided the perfect environment to simulate a real-world work setting. I was able to work comfortably and efficiently, surrounded by fellow students who provided valuable support and idea-sharing.”

When not in the studio working on automotive and transport designs, Oliver made the most of Swansea’s glorious beaches and the exhilarating mountain biking trails in the local hills, which provided a perfect balance to his busy academic life.

Beyond graduation, Oliver looks forward to competing in the prestigious Superyacht UK Young Designer Competition 2024, a spot he earnt from his impressive yacht design as his end-of-year project. He is one of only twelve students in the UK that will participate in the competition taking place at Southampton International Boat Show this September.

The opportunity will allow Oliver to showcase the skills and knowledge earnt on his degree and will no doubt open significant doors to the industry for him. We look forward to following his journey beyond the competition.
