What is your favourite thing about the Carmarthen campus?

My favourite thing about the campus is the little nooks you can find during warmer weather to sit and do work in. These areas have helped me to relax and have helped to improve my focus and therefore my motivation to work. My favourite spot is near the large tree outside between the library and NIB001. I also found myself returning to this spot for mental wellbeing and general relaxation between classes.

Why did you choose UWTSD?

I chose UWTSD as it offered a primarily practical acting course, something which I could not find elsewhere. I am a practical and visual learner, therefore, this course has accommodated my needs and left me fulfilled and exceptional at my craft.

I was also drawn to the number of opportunities that the acting course offered for me to perform in front of an audience. Audiences are what make theatre, so being able to experience this early on has reinforced my love for this industry.

What do you enjoy outside your studies?

Outside of my studies, I enjoy trips to Llansteffan beach with my friends, as well as taking long walks around Abergwili museum trail. Being able to drive has also allowed my friends and me to visit our local country park in Pembrey, only a 25-minute drive from campus!

As someone who enjoys being active, Carmarthen leisure center has been especially useful in helping me maintain my energy and motivation during each semester. There are also multiple castles nearby which restore the history of our beautiful country!

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

Following graduation, I am hoping to do a master’s degree in Screen Acting! I then hope to enter the world of bilingual children’s television!

Acting is my passion and is something I never thought I would get this far with. It poses challenges and pushes me to my extremes yet is a constant reminder to my younger self that it is possible to live your dreams!!

What is your favourite thing about your course?

My favourite thing about my course is the lecturers. Welcoming us each day with warm smiles and open hearts, supporting us as we strive to go beyond our comfort zones, and celebrating our achievements no matter how big or small, is only the foundation of the course. They treat us as an acting company rather than students and make us feel at one with them. They listen to, and consider any concerns we have, and are quick to implement feedback related to the course to make it a completely pleasant, enjoyable, and memorable experience for us all.

Would you recommend UWTSD and why?

I would recommend UWTSD to anyone in a heartbeat. During my time at UWTSD, I have had experience as a Student Ambassador, and was given the opportunity to study a semester abroad in California, where I found my love for rock climbing. This only enhanced my skillset and the attitude I approach each day with. Furthermore, through direct experience with the student services team, it is safe to say that my literary, as well as common skills have vastly improved, and have been shaped to guarantee further successes in future work.
